Today we have another blog post to keep you all aware of other organizations that are committed to the areas of open learning, distance learning, and the concept of open textbooks.
CIDER is the Canadian Institute of Distance Education Research. It is the Centre for Distance Education research initiative at Athabasca University – Canada’s Open University.

As described on the CIDER website, “CIDER ‘s research scope is broad, ranging from learning and teaching application, financial and issues of access, the strategic use of technology in distance education settings, and other factors that influence distance education in Canada. “
There is a wealth of information on both the CIDER website and the Athabasca University website. You can join their community, participate at different levels, subscribe to mailings, follow events, or read about what others with similar interests are up to.
